That’s right – the Wednesday Night Crazies are almost upon us again, thanks to a new season of the diabolically entertaining American Horror Story. This season is subtitled “Coven” (please pronounce it “Coh-ven”, just to piss people off) and it promises witchery and bitchery in equal measure. I will be back recapping every squishy moment, starting with Wednesday’s premiere – but I couldn’t wait until then to get the conversation started. As with last year’s arc, I’ve compiled the basic facts and promotional materials here in the hopes of getting to the bottom of some of this beautifully twisted imagery.
What We Know
The folks at IMDb have kindly made a supercut of all the creepy teasers, trailers and motion posters up to this point (and there’s a new ad for the series that precedes the cut). Please to enjoy:
They have also released the expectedly creepy opening credits sequence from the season, which once again employs the same acid-jazz theme over some new clue-filled imagery. Check it out:
Aside from the clues above (which I’ll dissect later, in the Predictions section), we know this:
New Orleans. OMG I love that town. And I love that AHS is camping out there for the season. Also: Salem, MA.
The core story will be in present day, although we will jump back to the days of the Salem Witch Trials and also to the mid-1800s in New Orleans, during the time of legendary voodoo priestess Marie Laveau.
