Meme: Bravo Cancels “Kathy,” “Calvin & Hobbes” Grows Up, and Sigourney Weaver Geeks OUT

Lydia Cornell is a radio host, but to some of us, she was Sara Rush, the bouncy blonde daughter Lydia Cornellon Too Close for Comfort in the 1980s. She makes a powerful argument in favor of marriage equality in the name of her lesbian sister, but also in the name of Jesus.

Senator Rand Paul, for all his talk of a lack of government interference in citizens lives, really hates the idea of marriage equality. He doesn’t think he can win on the federal level, so his goal is simple: rely on bigotry and fear at the state level to delay it for decades or more. “I think right now if we say we’re only going to [have] a federally mandated one man, one woman marriage, we’re going to lose that battle because the country is going the other way right now. If we’re to say each state can decide, I think a good 25, 30 states still do believe in traditional marriage, and maybe we allow that debate to go on for another couple of decades and see if we can still win back the hearts and minds of people.”

Bravo has cancelled Kathy, freeing up Kathy Griffin for that possible daily talk show on CNN with Anderson Cooper.

Jeremy IronsJeremy Irons isn’t happy he’s been labeled a bigot for likening marriage equality to incest earlier this week. He says he couldn’t be further from being anti-gay, but is shocked – shocked I tell you, that there has been such a negative response to what he says is a valid argument he made. “I had hoped that even on such a subject as this, where passions run high, the internet was a forum where ideas could be freely discussed without descending into name-calling. I believe that is what it could be, but it depends on all of us behaving, even behind our aliases, in a humane, intelligent and open way.” I hope you’re all appropriately ashamed of yourselves.

Evil Dead is set to win the weekend at the box office with $27 million, beating out GI Joe: Retaliation with $22 million, and The Croods with $21 million.

This is what happens when you legalize gay marriage. We should be appropriately ashamed. Or turned on. Whichever works for you, I’m fine with.

Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor isn’t ready to take a stand on marriage equality. “I would put me down in the undecided category.” At least he answered the question, unlike my own cowardly Senator Joe Manchin, who is only a Democrat on paper.Sarah and Steve newlin

Anna Camp is returning to True Blood as Sarah Newlin, who no doubt will have issues with her former husband Steve, now that he’s an out and proud gay vampire America.

In another sign that cats run the world, Hallmark Channel has announced they will be counterprogramming both the Super Bowl and the Puppy Bowl with the Kitten Bowl, which is just what it sounds like. Many aren’t impressed, since cats are notoriously fickle and may just decide to nap on midfield rather than provide entertainment on demand.

Sigourney WeaverSigourney Weaver wasn’t able to attend the Geeks OUT gala honoring her work, but she did take the time to send a message that’s worth reading in the entirety. “I am extremely touched and thrilled to be honored by Geeks OUT as a queer geek icon and muse. It means so much to me that my work has been relevant and encouraging to the LGBT community. I support each and every one of you to be exactly and gloriously who you are and all you can be. The planet needs your individuality and talent and power to make it a more humane and respectful and fantastic place, where everyone is valued and celebrated equally. So rock on and geek out, my friends.”

Rutgers fired Mike Rice for his physically abusive and homophobic actions on the basketball court, and now they’ve fired athletic director Tim Pernetti for not having done it earlier, but many of the faculty and students want President Barchi to follow them out the door. Barchi had access to the video of the abuse for months, but couldn’t be bothered to watch it. Rutgers needs to clean house of people who don’t value and respect their students.

Kirsten Vangsness, who plays Penelope Garcia on Criminal Minds has been named “Most Appealing” to faith based audiences. This is a little unusual, because Vangsness is a happy, out, engaged lesbian who has plans to travel the globe picking up marriage licenses in every municipality that will issue them to same-sex couples.Danny Pintauro

Who’s the Boss? star Danny Pintauro, who was outed by the National Enquirer as a teenager is engaged to his fiancé Wil Tabares. “He made a video, and in the video held up the box [with the ring]. “I looked up and he had it in his hand!” Pintauro is now a restaurant manager in Las Vegas, but the couple plans to move back to California to wed when prop 8 falls.
