Rep Aaron Schock’s Instagram is gay, Charlie Crist apologizes to the GLBT community repeatedly, Navajo Nation moves for marriage equality
In things that I never thought I’d write, Clay Aiken is evidently considering a run for Congress in his native North Carolina. He’s done some polling, met with Democratic operatives, and is said to be seriously considering a run to unseat the incumbent Republican. He certainly has the name recognition.
NHL star Henrik Lundqvist is going to be the new face and body of underwear company Bread & Boxers. Hopefully they don’t shoot on the ice, because, you know, shrinkage.
Rep. Aaron Schock may not be gay, but his Instagram account certainly is.
The Minnesota Vikings have responded to Chris Kluwe’s accusations that he was fired for supporting marriage equality so vocally. “The Minnesota Vikings were made aware of Chris Kluwe’s allegations for the first time today. We take them very seriously and will thoroughly review this matter. As an organization, the Vikings consistently strive to create a supportive, respectful and accepting environment for all of our players, coaches and front office personnel. We do not tolerate discrimination at any level. The team has long respected our players’ and associates’ individual rights, and, as Chris specifically stated, Vikings ownership supports and promotes tolerance, including on the subject of marriage equality. Because he was identified with the Vikings, Chris was asked to be respectful while expressing his opinions. Team ownership and management also repeatedly emphasized to Chris that the Vikings would not impinge on his right to express his views. Any notion that Chris was released from our football team due to his stance on marriage equality is entirely inaccurate and inconsistent with team policy. Chris was released strictly based on his football performance. We will have further comment at the appropriate time.”
As has out state Rep. Scott Dibble. “Kluwe’s allegations raise very serious concerns about the culture within the Minnesota Vikings organization. As a business partner of the state of Minnesota, we have strong expectations that the team uphold the values of tolerance and equality that we all share. I am encouraged to some degree by the team’s statement in response, but the charges warrant a thorough investigation. If shown to be true, decisive action must be taken.”
But Coach Mike Priefer, who was named pretty frequently by Kluwe, is not happy. “I vehemently deny today’s allegations made by Chris Kluwe. I want to be clear that I do not tolerate discrimination of any type and am respectful of all individuals. I personally have gay family members who I love and support just as I do any family member. The primary reason I entered coaching was to affect people in a positive way. As a coach, I have always created an accepting environment for my players, including Chris, and have looked to support them both on and off the field. The comments today have not only attacked my character and insulted my professionalism, but they have also impacted my family.”
In case you were wondering why your dog goes in circles before pooping, it’s because he’s aligning his body along the North-South axis via magnetic fields. He has no desire to poop facing East-West.
The Diné Marriage Act of 2005 outlawed marriage equality in the Navajo Nation. But now, nobody seems to want the ban, from the president who signed it to the current president. But rather than repealing it legislatively, it appears that a court challenge will likely bring equality to the second largest indigenous tribe in the United States.
Netflix knows more about movies than Hollywood studios. They have them tagged with 76,897 unique tags, denoting plot, jobs of lead characters, locations, and how happy it is. And they use it to make your recommendations, down to how much romance you seem to like in your action movies. Now why can’t porn sites be this smart?
Chris Pine worked with Lindsay Lohan back in 2005, and he said it was quite an experience. “It was a real cyclone of insanity, like being around The Beatles. It was fascinating to watch, and in hindsight it’s really a distinct moment in someone’s life when you see what’s really wonderful about what we get to do and what’s really dangerous about it.”
When the U.S. had a meat shortage in the early 20th century, there was a plan to farm hippopotamus in the swamps of Louisiana, allowing the hippos to eat water hyacinths while they were raised for their meat to feed the American people.
If you apply the Bechdel Test to the Top 50 movies of 2013, you find that the 17 that passed the test made nearly double the money of the 33 that didn’t.
In case you were wondering about the connection between lesbians and Subarus, here’s a pretty good explanation. I think they have the timing off, because when I lived in DuPont Circle, it was a sea of Subarus and VW Jettas all the gay boys drove.
How many times can former Florida Governor Charlie Crist apologize to the GLBT community in a single interview now that he’s trying to be a Democrat?
Kate Winslet just had a baby with Ned RockNRoll, but says it was never even a consideration that her child have that last name. “Of course we’re not going to call it RockNRoll. People might judge all they like, but I’m a f**king grown-up.” She also doesn’t seem to care how fast she drops her baby weight. “Having just had a baby, I’m not going to be thinking about my arse.”
Ann Coulter is attempting to rewrite history again. I need some bleach for my brain.
