ACT UP crashes Stoli party in NYC, Teen Wolf casts Arden Cho as 3B baddie, Oprah explains the n-word to Lee Daniels

Oprah WinfreyOprah Winfrey says that you can’t use the n-word around her. “You cannot be my friend and use that word around me. I feel strongly about it… I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last word as they were hanging from a tree.” Her The Butler director Lee Daniels admits he used to use the word until she sat him down and talked to him about its power.

Noted homophobe Scott Lively is upset at how the media is portraying homophobes in documentaries about Uganda. “Both the Democrat and Republican parties are masters at twisting and spinning facts to destroy their opponents. But nobody is better at malicious propaganda than the political left on the issue of homosexuality, and they have never worked quite so hard at it as in their attempt to slander the people of Uganda. If the vast sums of money spent by western liberals to smear this emerging nation for opposing homosexual sin had instead been spent on feeding starving Africans, or fighting the many terrible diseases of that Scott Livelycontinent, they would have saved tens of thousands of human lives instead of producing tens of thousands of feet of worthless film. Real life in Uganda is far, far different from what is portrayed in these disgusting anti-Christian ‘documentaries.’”

There’s a last ditch effort to stop Rhode Island marriages that began (along with Minnesota) last night. Ronald L’Heureux claims “legalizing same-sex marriage will violate religious freedoms guaranteed by the state Constitution, forcing people to accept, in public spheres such as schools, a practice that they oppose based on their faith. “It violates the Constitution and causes irreparable harm, and once it passes they’re going to teach my children and grandchildren conduct that’s reprehensible to my faith.” His motion for a restraining order was denied.

Teen Wolf has cast Arden Cho as a new student and key character for season 3B as they explore the Asian mythology of the Kitsune myth.Arden Cho

In a first, an Alabama judge has restored a lesbian parent’s visitation rights. After splitting from her husband, she moved in with her girlfriend. The judge restored normal visitation rights, without any “paramour” restrictions on overnight stays.

A stroke patient has developed a unique case of synesthesia, allowing him to taste colors, but he also experience orgasmic sensations when he hears music with a heavy horn element, such as the theme to James Bond.

Rush Limbaugh is predicting that Chris Christie will seek the presidency in 2016… but as a Democrat, which means Limbaugh has completely lost it.

SharknadoSyFy has announced that they’re coming out with a line of Sharknado swag you can buy, from t-shirts to totes to costumes and games.

Michelangelo Signorile interviewed the CEO of Stoli, who says that his company is seeking ways to advocate for LGBT rights in Russia. “We are right now contemplating the best way to [use our influence]. I’ve been giving interviews, some of them in Russia, emphasizing our position, that we are upset by the lack of tolerance in Russia and the law limiting rights. But at the same time, we’re now analyzing the best way to influence this in Russia. Probably we will identify a global or local charity that knows better than us how to tackle the issue and influence the issue in Russia. And we’ll support it financially.”

A coalition of GLBT groups announced a $2 million push to get ENDA passed (at least in the Senate). I’ve long said that ENDA is the more important legislation, even if marriage has the momentum. While I love seeing it get some love, I wonder if there’s a point, since there is zero chance of it even coming up for a vote in the House.Nicholas Cummings

USA Today lost what little credibility they had among newspapers you only read when you find them on the floor outside your hotel room when they published a horrible op-ed from Nicholas Cummings, a psychiatrist associated with NARTH, the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality defending reparative therapy. The piece claims thousands were treated successfully and treatment is not harmful. Why they would allow this journalistic malpractice is beyond me.

Sharon Stone says that she’s never watched porn. Which is odd, since some of her roles have bordered on soft core.

Sharon StoneThere’s an interesting petition up demanding that Rachel Maddow be added to the 2014 Olympics coverage as a human rights correspondent.

The ex-gays are demanding the same federal protections that gays have. What protections are those, you may ask? Evidently “I don’t believe that we should deny gays equal rights. I think that if we, however, include and allow gays to have the same rights, which heterosexuals do, we also need to allow ex-gays to have the same rights as well. Meaning that we need to be able to go out and be heard in the media and the public sector.” It’s not that you can’t, it’s just that nobody takes you seriously.

So soldiers in Afghanistan are using Craigslist to score hookups. And since gay sex isn’t illegal, this is no big deal, right? Well, not so fast. Posting a personals ad isn’t technically illegal under the USMJ, but there are loopholes, like the commanding general putting out an order that you can’t have sex with anyone except your spouse in a war zone. And if you add nudes to your personals ad, well that is illegal. Plus there’s the convenient UCMJ clause that can punish anything unbecoming. Which can lead to NCIS running sting operations by answering Craigslist ads, and you can end up docked pay and restricted duty. Oddly, the reporting seems to lean towards just chasing down gay sex ads though.

ACT UP crashed the Stoli bash at the closing Splash nightclub, holding up signs denouncing Russian vodka before security destroyed the signs. The only Chris Evansperson who even acknowledged the protestors was the drag queen host. The event was for the Most Original Stoli Guy New York, which is sponsored by Queerty/Gay Cities.

Sure we like seeing ripped actors like Hugh Jackman, Chris Evans and now Chris Pratt as superheroes onscreen, but what’s the cost to the actors’ bodies? It’s not pretty.
