Channing Tatum developing reality series with female and male burlesque, ENDA corrals all but one Senate Democrat, Todrick Hall teaches flight safety

MorrisseyDating Morrissey must be terribly confusing. First, he’s “humansexual,” which means you’ll need a doctoral dissertation to figure out if he’s into you. And if you order meat on a first date, he’ll stand and walk out of the restaurant. “As his food order arrives I stare intently at what appears to be a sloppy dish of dog food on his plate. … I therefore automatically stand up and walk out of the restaurant. Suddenly you come to a certain situation and you are unable to live with it, and the only protest you can make on behalf of the butchered animal is to depart the scene. He obviously understood my sudden exit, and he had been curious enough to follow me home. He steps inside and he stays for two years.

Senator Rob Portman, who has a gay son, says that he’s “inclined to support ENDA” but he’d really like to see stronger religious exemptions, which would largely gut the bill. Still, he says that the changes aren’t’ required to get his vote.

Meanwhile, Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor has announced he will support the bill, which leaves just one Democratic holdout, who happens to be my own Senator Joe Manchin, who will not be coming around. Lobby if you want, but this one is a lost cause. His father, who was a great man, would have supported it, but not Joe.

Jesse Tyler FergusonJesse Tyler Ferguson has been named Celebrity Ambassador for the ACLU’s Out for Freedom campaign in support of marriage equality. “I worked with the ACLU and the New York Civil Liberties Union a lot when I was living in New York. I was always very invigorated by the passion and the drive and the vast knowledge they have. I learned so much just by working with them on policy and legislation and getting in touch with lawmakers and making my voice heard. I just felt like it was so important to keep that energy spinning. Having conversations with the people making our laws is so important, so I was really inspired to continue working with them. It just seemed like a no-brainer.”

Have you read the Orientation Police?

Matt, the voice behind the Teen Wolf social media sites has spoken out about the #KillDanny video that enraged me and so many fans last week. “That was a joke. I am maybe better at GIFs than comedy (though some of you might argue). It was an improvised line in the video, meant to Dannyplay on the #MoreDanny tag, and I thought it seemed comically absurd that the show might kill off a character for this reason. It lacked perspective. It lacked insight into this fandom’s amazing sensitivity to a sense of progressive representation of characters on TV, something I usually take pride in. I’m sorry, and you won’t see that again. So, now and forever (and also coming up in 5 minutes): #MOREDANNY”

Following in the steps of her former colleague Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, retired Justice Sandra Day O’Conner officiated a same sex wedding ceremony at the Supreme Court for Jeffrey Trammell and Stuart Serkin. How many more justices will follow suit?

GLBT activists in Russia say that they’ve sent letters and emails to the IOC requesting a meeting with IOC President Thomas Bach when he’s in the country, but haven’t’ received a response. The IOC tells Buzzfeed they’re happy to meet with activists, so the disconnect seems a bit strange.

Lance Bass says that he wants a family once he’s married to Michael Turchin. “ll my friends basically did a baby pack and all had babies this year. I definitely have always dreamt of that. Growing up in the South, it’s all about family…We want to enjoy being a married couple for a Lance Bass Michael Turchincouple years, but not wait too long. I don’t want to be too old. We have a little five-year plan. Plus, my friends are all having babies right now, so it would be amazing to watch them all grow up together. I would love to have a kid of my own, I would love to have [Michael] have a kid, and maybe even eventually adopt a kid who couldn’t find a home.”

Harrison Ford is obviously frustrated having to talk about Orson Scott Card every time he does a promotion for Ender’s Game, but at least he catches himself when his frustration shows. “The issues that are coming up now are not part of the book, which is twenty-eight years old. So they don’t really concern me.” Then he paused, and reconsidered. “‘Concern me’ are really not the right words. I think it’s better to say that they are simply not issues; his point of view on some of these issues that are getting such attention now is not promoted by or part of the story that we’re telling.”

Chris Brown is claiming he did not use a gay slur in his assault incident over the weekend (which has been downgraded to a misdemeanor). Sources say that Brown is “upset” that people think he did. Here’s the thing – once you’ve said so many homophobic things on tape, to other famous people, and had multiple violent outbursts, it’s really hard to get the benefit of the doubt. Like, really, really, really, really hard. Update: Now he’s entered rehab for anger issues, Channing Tatumwhich is celebrity speak for “Please don’t send me to jail.”

My friend Brett Berk has finally test driven the car I’ve been dying to know about since summer, the Jaguar F-Type. And I think he loves it. But he may have ruined it for me forever by comparing everything about it to a cat. I know it’s the obvious comparison, but seriously, bad association for me.

Channing Tatum is developing a reality show based in his New Orleans bar Saints and Sinners. It will explore the same themes the bar does, including female and male burlesque. I’m suddenly very interested, even if Tatum himself fails to appear.
