Of course the big news of the day was Minnesota becoming the 12th state with marriage equality, and the third new state in two weeks.

Of course Minnesota’s favorite Congresswoman tweeted that she was proud to have sponsored the failed constitutional amendment against equality.

Grant KotherDid you know that a group of tigers was called a “streak?” Utilizing that image, the Zoological Society of London is holding a fundraiser for their tiger program that will let you streak naked through the zoo on August 15th. And sexy zookeeper Grant Kother is getting a head start on the nakedness at the zoo here.

Iowa Rep. Steven King thinks that President Obama calling Jason Collins is the beginning of the end. “[W]e’ve got Tim Tebow who will kneel and pray to God on the football field,” King ranted. “Meanwhile we have a professional athlete that decides he’s going to announce his sexuality and he gets a personal call from the United States to highlight the sexuality of a professional ballplayer. These are ways that the culture gets undermined, where it gets divided. The people over on this side take their Senator Orrin Hatchfollowership from that kind of leadership. One notch at a time, American civilization, American culture, western civilization, western Judeo-Christiandom are eroded.” Why are conservatives so fixated on the end of things?

Unsurprisingly, Senator Orin Hatch is calling on Senator Leahy to not include same-sex couples in immigration reform, saying it will sink the bill. He even claims to have amendments he’d like to offer, but won’t for the good of the bill. But would his amendments be for the good of the country?

The National Organization for Marriage is using the scandal of the IRS targeting Tea Party groups to cry about their leaked return from a few years ago, even claiming this is the sort of politics that you’d find in Soviet Russia. Meanwhile, Senator Marco Rubio is calling for the resignation of the IRS Commissioner, except the job is has been vacant since November, when the Bush appointee resigned.

Jesse Tyler FergusonIf you were wondering what David Bowie thought of astronaut Chris Hadfield singing “Space Oddity” from the ISS, he calls it “beautiful” and “breathtaking.”

In other NOM news, they’re trying to fundraise off that hilarious video last week with George Takei and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. “This video is unbridled hatred and bigotry towards people like you and me who believe in marriage. Some gay marriage activists clearly believe their own propaganda that gay marriage is inevitable, and now they are no longer attempting to hide their loathing and hatred of good people like you and me who simply believe marriage is the unique and special union of husband and wife. If you are outraged as I am over this video please help counteract its desired effect by taking a stand for marriage by donating $35, $50, $100 or $500 to NOM today to support our efforts to protect marriage and good people like you who believe in marriage….We can’t afford to let this kind of overt prejudice and bigotry against good people who believe in marriage become mainstream!”

Turning to other bigots, Linda Harvey says that gay news sites are turning children gay. “Homosexual-themed pornography is extremely accessible to young people if they ever visit any websites covering the gay agenda as news. For instance, if your child was during a report on same-sex marriage just researching the political issue and visiting sites that are sympathetic to the socialMika and political goals of the homosexual movement may quickly bring them in touch with explicit images because many of the homosexual news blogs have soft-porn gay dating sites or worse as ads. So what is the reaction of your son or daughter to such graphic images?  If they feel a curiosity it may start a process of wondering if they could be homosexual.” Wow, we’re more powerful than I ever knew.

Mika is set to headline a free concert in Paris to celebrate marriage equality on May 24th.

The Oklahoma City Thunder is using Macklemore & Lewis’ “Can’t Hold Us” as a rally song in the NBA playoffs, but if you’ve listened to his album, you’d know that Macklemore is pissed. He’s got a lot of pride for his hometown of Seattle, and the Thunder used to be the Seattle Sonics, and MacklemoreSeattle is still mad the team left.

The Florida Family Association points out that it’s perfectly legal to discriminate against gay people in Florida, so Disneyworld should shut down Gay Days. Like they’re going to walk away from that much money.

Dr. Joyce Brothers has passed away at the age of 85. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

Why has the stigma against HIV gotten worse in the GLBT community, when it used to be a rallying point for the community? How have we been carved up into “us” and “them?” My friend Mark S. King makes a plea for sanity. Incidentally, Mark was who I went to for advice on coming out as HIV+ in this column, and provided a lot of moral support from his years of being open about his status.Tomodachi Collection: New Life

Nintendo has announced plans to “fix” the bug that allowed same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Collection: New Life. Despite a huge online community forming around the game, Nintendo says it will patch the undocumented feature when it fixes “error messages” and the inability to save.” That’s something I’m not used to being compared to. I guess it’s better than murderers and rapists like we normally get.
