Queerview Television Guide (Wednesday, April 7 2010)

Get ready to be amused as BBC America debuts a new season of gay inclusive sketch comedy series That Mitchell and Webb Look tonight with Hercule Poirot, the Claus family, and England’s happy-go-lucky Queen Victoria making appearances.

That’s just part of a very busy Wednesday night of gay TV. We’ve also got the very gay penultimate episode of Ugly Betty, the return of Top Chef Masters, plenty of Glee cast members on talk shows, and more Kish on today’s One Life to Live. We will be following OLTL with a liveblog so be sure to join us starting at 2PM Eastern.

The Oprah Winfrey Show (syndicated) Check local listings
With Glee returning next week, we’ll be seeing the cast to promote the show but Oprah has a full episode dedicated to the hit series with a behind-the-scenes look and a performance. Here are two preview clips:

As the World Turns (CBS) Check local listings
Luke tries to help Reid with his lawsuit today, only for Reid to walk in time for him to hear Luke trying to pay for Reid’s problem to go away. Sounds like we should be expecting sparks. We’ll try to have the video clip of today’s show for you when available.

One Life to Live (ABC) Check local listings
Gigi checks in on Sierra Rose today, probably to decide if she’ll continue to fight for the baby now that it’s Oliver and Kyle who want custody.

America’s Next Top Model (CW) 8:00 PM EDT
Ross Mathews appears on tonight’s challenge, and the hopefuls will have to pose with him.

That Mitchell and Webb Look (BBC America) 9:30 PM EDT
I’m so thrilled to see this show return. With a heavy sense of absurdity, recurring characters that go away too soon (I could easily go for another dozen sketches featuring the party planners or the people who have no business in their line of work) and, now, the occasional drag performance, Mitchell and Webb come closer than anyone to recapturing the greatness of The Kids in the Hall.

Ugly Betty (ABC) 10:00 PM EDT
It sounds like the gays in Betty’s life will be getting a good amount of attention tonight as Amanda tries to match up Marc with her first client as a stylist: a soap actor in a juicy double-role (Bryan Batt). Amanda’s got a challenge ahead of her since Marc’s starting to notice gay duckling Troy‘s qualities, now that Troy has found a new object of his affection. Meanwhile, Justin debates if he should invite Austin to his mother’s wedding.

Shear Genius (Bravo) 10:00 PM EDT
Sigh. Remember when we found the first season to be surprisingly compelling? Back when even Dr. Boogie or Tabitha‘s ability for drama couldn’t overcome a bad haircut? Tonight’s finale involves the usual challenge of working with the hair of several models, Hopefully, Matthew can accomplish a well-earned win.

The Challenge: Fresh Meat II (MTV) 10:00 PM EDT
While MTV’s post Real World employment program tends to rely heavily on the kind of drinking, fighting and hooking-up that is part of The Real World‘s identity, it also gives its gay and bisexual participants an equal chance for bad behavior.

The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi (Logo) 10:00 PM EST
RuPaul and Kathy Griffin appear tonight as Robert decides he wants his own awards show, having hosted a number of red carpet specials. I can’t wait to see how Kathy and Robert bounce off of each other.

Lopez Tonight (TBS) 11:00 PM EDT
Dancing with the Stars judge Bruno Toniolo will be appearing on tonight’s show.

Top Chef Masters (Bravo) 11:00 PM EDT
Bravo giving another group of chefs a chance to see what it’s like to compete in a Top Chef challenge. Unfortunately, it’s starting out with Team Gay fighting each other as Jerry Traunfeld and Susan Feniger are among this week’s competitors. I’m just thrilled to have the non-infuriating version of Top Chef back on the air.

The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS) 11:35 PM EDT
You can continue to get excited for the return of Glee as Jane Lynch is scheduled to be chatting with Dave tonight.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC) 12:35 AM EDT
Rachel Maddow will be making a return appearance tonight. Hopefully, she — and not Jimmy — will be mixing drinks again. Dave Annable and Suzanne Vega are also expected to appear.

Daytime Preview for Thursday, April 8

The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Glee hype continues as Cory Monteith will be chatting with Ellen.

Things get even tenser between Luke and Reid when Noah shows up to interrupt a moment between the two.
