Hello hello! Last night Season 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race concluded and the talented Jinkx Monsoon was crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar. Congrats to her, but the old dear better not get too comfortable. Sure, she bested the other 13 contestants of Season Five, but how would she have fared in a larger field of fabulous drag performers? How would any of the former winners have done if they had to fend off every single former Drag Race contestant going back to Season One? Sure, the All Stars cycle might have handed a crown to the flawless Chad Michaels, but she was only up against a small subset of former contestants handpicked by RuPaul herself.
We figured it was time to have the fans weigh in. Time to both expand and level the playing field. Time to give every former contestant of RuPaul’s Drag Race the chance for ultimate bragging rights. It’s time for The RuPaul’s Drag Race Queens Tournament!
Over the course of five seasons and one All Star extravaganza, 60 queens have competed for the title, but never before have all 60 actually squared off against each other. They will here, hunties! And only one can emerge as Queens Tournament Champion!
The ladies have been arranged into four divisions, each containing 15 queens (and one wildcard spoiler per division to make an even 64). For Round One, the competitors are paired in 32 head to head matchups.
Round One voting (once per hour) starts now and closes this Saturday at 11:59pm Eastern. The winners of each pairing will advance to Round Two and so on until the Ultimate Queen is crowned.
Which RuPaul’s Drag Race alum has the right combination of charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to take her place on the Queens Tournament throne? Gentlemen (and ladies), start your voting, and may the best woman win!
