News

Here’s something to lessen the thrill for Community fans excited about creator Dan Harmon‘s return: Vulture broke the news that Donald Glover will only appear in five (out of the thirteen ordered) episodes this season, as Glover wanted time to focus on his music. While that’s good news for fans of Glover’s rapper persona Childish Gambino, that means Community viewers are getting eight episodes of Abed without Troy.

Community's Donald GloerMaybe Puppet Troy could take over for a couple episodes?

Jezebel imagines what Jenny McCarthy would bring to The View as a permanent host. There’s nothing that could get me interested in watching again.

The stars of Canadian cult comedy Trailer Park Boys can hope for new episodes soon. The series’ three lead actors — Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith — have purchased the rights to the series with an eye to putting new episodes online.

A new TV channel in the UK is publicizing its launch by unveiling a 12-foot statue of Mr. Darcy in a wet shirt, a reference to the legendary scene from Pride & Prejudice. Except for being able to see his nipples through the shirt, there’s something that doesn’t look right about the statue so I’m including a picture of a recent Mr. Darcy (Elliot Cowan from Lost in Austen) for reference.

Colin Firth's swimming scene from "Pride and Prejudice"The statue does a better job of showing Mr. Darcy‘s nipples.

In ratings news, Sunday’s Big Brother rose a little to reach a season high, but at least Celebrity Wife Swap hit a new series low.

So You Think You can Dance (FOX) 8:00 PM ET
Amid the reality TV craziness that has surrounded her in the past several years, it’s easy to forget Paula Abdul‘s contribution to dance choreography (and the two Emmys she won). Tonight, she reminds us by guest-judging tonight’s performances.

Pretty Little Liars (ABC Family) 8:00 PM ET
Toby and Caleb have graduated from being boyfriends-slash-pawns of “A” to conducting their own investigations on the sidelines. Tonight, they team up which is the kind of thing that could only be improved by bringing Lucas and his homoerotic tension with Caleb into the team. That would at least tell us if Lucas and Toby could share as similar chemistry.

Pretty Little Liars, "Gamma Zeta Die!"Also, there’s a frat party where everyone seems overdressed.

The Haves and Have Nots (OWN) 9:00 PM ET
Bad girl Candace stirs things up this week by teaching Amanda how to seduce her college professor. Then maid Hannah‘s good child, Benny, ends up getting arrested.

Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis (Bravo) 9:00 PM ET
Last spring, Bravo gave viewers a break from watching Jeff Lewis yelling at friends and employees by sending him to judge people who thought they were getting help with the design of their home. At first, it was good to see Jeff in a show where he wasn’t constantly putting his closest relationships at risk, but it turned out he could be really cruel to strangers, too. Still, Interior Therapy worked when Jeff’s clients knew how to push back and the second season kicks off with a demanding client. Overall, Jeff’s a challenging personality to watch, one whose positive qualities are easy to forget. I’m keeping my fingers crossed this season premiere will offer the right balance.

Twisted (ABC Family) 9:00 PM ET
Like the towns in any good high school thriller, Green Grove finds many reasons to throw a party where everyone can dress up and deliver those intense looks in tuxedos and gowns for a change. Tonight’s it’s time for the Fall Festival, a chance for Danny to be reminded that it’s the whole town that doesn’t want him around and not just his classmates.

Twisted, "The Fest and the Furious"ABC Family dramas could use more dance scenes.

Chopped (Food Network) 10:00 PM ET
I grew up in Hawaii, where mochi is a big enough deal that there are multiple cookbooks dedicated to it and people are really familiar with all the different varieties. Tonight, I’m going to have to resist the urge to fast forward through the appetizer and entree round, so I can find out what kind of mochi is in the mystery baskets of tonight’s dessert round.

Property Envy (Bravo) 10:00 PM ET
Bravo’s giving Jeff Lewis a third show, this one looks like a high-end real estate version of Fashion Police with a panel (that includes Jeff) commenting on fancy homes and trying to be funny about it.

Total Blackout (Syfy) 10:00 PM ET
Syfy’s hit game show wraps its second season with a celebrity edition. When reality shows have “celebrity” casts, it’s usually not that interesting except this time TBL-fave Neil Grayston is competing against Erin Way, Bob Guiney and Aubrey O’Day.

Drunk History (Comedy Central) 10:00 PM ET
I’m still not sold on Comedy Central’s newest series, where comedians pretend to be drunk and then retell stories from history, but it’s based on a popular web series, so I probably just haven’t seen the right episode.

Catfish: The TV Show (MTV) 10:00 PM ET
Catfish has had its share of cringe-inducing subjects but tonight Nev and Max work with a guy from Arizona who admits he suspects there’s something off about his online girlfriend, but still he sends her money and shares key personal data with her.

What will you be watching tonight? Please share in the comments!
