It’s time to meet Peter‘s boyfriend (Colin Ferguson) on Happily Divorced.
In a surprising development, Lifetime has cancelled Drop Dead Diva. Deadline speculates, that the decision might have come out of a desire to pursue more “edgy” fare at Lifetime — you know, like The Client List. Wait, does “edgy” mean getting hot male guest-stars undressed under flimsy excuses? That’s a pretty compelling argument for Lifetime getting more “edgy.” Too bad we won’t find out where Drop Dead Diva would go from where it left off.
TNT has ordered a pilot starring Rebecca Romijn and Jon Tenney of The Closer and Major Crimes. King & Maxwell will focus on a pair of former Secret Service agents who become private investigators.
Mad Men and Desperate Housewives alum Mark Moses will appear on Blue Bloods, TV Guide reports. Moses will play a bigoted talk radio host who challenges the police’s commitment to protecting the first amendment.
TVLine reports that Scott Foley booked a role for a “major arc” on Scandal. I’m keeping my fingers crossed we can expect a “Cyrus and James discuss the merits of becoming a throuple.
I think this is a first. People who buy the entire third season of Downton Abbey on iTunes will be able to download the last three episodes of the season before they air on PBS.
The Good Wife is adding another Tony winner to its cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Audra McDonald will play a law school rival of Alicia. McDonald is set to appear in one episode, but lawyers and judges on The Good Wife tend to make return appearances.
The AV Club takes a look at how TV handles nerd and autistic characters and how that’s improved thanks to shows like The Big Bang Theory, Parenthood and Community. Even when The Big Bang Theory can’t help but wallow in nerd stereotypes, it acknowledges the characters’ individuality and complexity.
The revived One Life to Live has found a pair of head writers. Considering the quality of soap writing in the past decade, I’m feeling encouraged that neither name rings a bell.
Anderson Live (syndicated) Check local listings
Anderson gets a visit from Cougar Town‘s Busy Philipps and someone from The Real Housewives of Atlanta who joined the show after I stopped watching.
American Idol (Fox) 8:00 PM ET
Now that the former Death Star of the TV listings has fallen to earth, can a new panel of judges save it? Maybe it helps that it will include two feuding judges who can keep the gossip mags covering the show even if there isn’t a compelling singer.
Arrow (CW) 8:00 PM ET
Now that he’s faced his first major defeat, Oliver starts feeling like maybe it’s time he took up a new hobby. Street art would let him continue to make use of his sneakiness and maybe his art could be about how the Dark Archer writes Two and a Half Men fanfiction in addition to participating in the comment threads at news sites.
Criminal Minds (CBS) 9:00 PM ET
In case you’re missing Michelle Trachtenberg now that her Gossip Girl days are definitely behind her, she’s in tonight’s Criminal Minds as a research assistant.
Ghost Hunters (Syfy) 9:00 PM ET
A new season of Ghost Hunters kicks off with the addition of a new team member in training and two investigations at locations with a bit of campy history — the Swoden House that’s tied to the Black Dahlia murder (as well as the America’s Next Top Model season where we had to endure Jade) and Madame Tusssauds Hollywood Wax Museum. I hope out TAPS member Adam Berry gets to participate in one of those investigations.
Modern Family (ABC) 9:00 PM ET
It’s time for Manny‘s last birthday as the only child in the house, so Jay and Gloria try to throw him a nice surprise party. Meanwhile, Cam and Mitch deal with the realization that Lily seems to have a favorite dad.
Supernatural (CW) 9:00 PM ET
The Winchesters get sent on a heavenly mission (by sci-fi fave Amanda Tapping) to save an angel being held captive by Crawley. Meanwhile, Amelia catches up with Sam to try to get him to return home and leave the life of a hunter behind. One more encounter with Crawley should work as a persuasive argument for Sam.
Suburgatory (ABC) 9:30 PM ET
Tessa learns there’s no good time to recover from oral surgery in Chatswin as Fred Shay has a breakdown just in time to make her wisdom tooth extraction seem like a day by the country club pool.
American Horror Story (FX) 10:00 PM ET
It’s the penultimate episode and the last wrongfully-imprisoned resident of Briarcliff is the woman responsible for so much of the misery there… and don’t forget, there are still aliens to deal with as well as the question of if Alma will decide that an interracial marriage isn’t much more trouble than being part of an interracial throuple.
Ghost Mine (Syfy) 10:00 PM ET
I look at a lot of these paranormal reality shows thinking “Now that’s just crazy.” After all, if you believe in ghosts it’s more than a little foolish to actually reach out to them. However, Syfy’s newest entry sounds crazy enough to watch. It follows people investigating a haunted, abandoned gold mine, adding lots of actual danger to go with the risk of running into an angry spirit.
Hot in Cleveland (TV Land) 10:0 PM ET
After all this time, it turns out Melanie and Alec still haven’t had sex — which seems to call for an episode where she worries about the relationship landmark.
Workaholics (Comedy Central) 10:00 PM ET
Comedy Central’s entry into the “amoral jerks meet karma” genre of comedy kicks off its third season with an office roast. I’m hoping it has the usual quantity of homoerotic jokes.
Happily Divorced (TV Land) 10:30 PM ET
TV Land becomes the surprise home of a Coupling USA theme night: Jay Harrington is on Hot in Cleveland and Colin Ferguson shows up on Happily Divorced as Peter‘s first major boyfriend. I hope this means TV Land is going to find a role for another coupling USA alum, Lindsay Price soon.
Watch What Happens Live (Bravo) 11:00 PM ET
Padma Lakshmi and Nikita‘s Maggie Q are joining Andy tonight.
What will you be watching tonight? Please share in the comments!
Anderson Live (syndicated) Check local listings
Second Generation Wayan‘s Tatyana Ali joins Anderson tomorrow.
Suits (USA) 10:00 PM ET
They’re back! Now if only I could remember if it was Mivey or Marvey….
