TV on Tap: “The Voice” Gets Ready for Its Third Season Gotye Clarifies and Lindsay Lohan Will Play Elizabeth Taylor

Pretty, young Californians? How did The L.A. Complex even make it on the air?

Sigh. It’s official. Lindsay Lohan will play Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime movie. I still can’t imagine it but it’s a basic cable movie.

Despite an earlier promise that she’d have a “major story” with Kurt, we won’t see Lauren Zizes on any future episodes of Glee. Too bad, I thought that character had promise and I could have done without Quinn‘s storylines.

Okay, I thought that scene between Kalinda and Lana on Sunday’s episode of The Good Wife was steamy, but not steamy enough to require negotiations with the network censors. Seriously, CBS?

Brendan Hines is one of those guys I consider ridiculously good-looking so I’m excited to see him make a guest appearance in an upcoming episode of Covert Affairs.

How many of these shows that were cancelled after airing only a single episode do you remember? I can’t believe I never heard about Heil Honey, I’m Home! until now.

I never got around to checking out the new Upstairs Downstairs and now the drama has been cancelled after losing a big chunk of the viewers who initially watched it.

I guess Gotye quickly heard from Glee fans. In a radio interview with Kennedy he clarified his complaints about the Glee version of “Somebody That I Used to Know.” The clarification doesn’t make much sense to me but that might be because I’m shocked to learn that people in LA listen to Kennedy.

With the upfronts coming, NBC is finalizing deals to get The Voice‘s judges to return for a third season.

However, Ryan Seacrest is a step ahead of them. He’s agreed to stay on American Idol for two more years.

Ellen‘s talking with Jesse Tyler Ferguson today. He’s bringing some Modern Family teasers but I’m hoping there will be some discussion about how powerful it is to have a couple like Mitchell and Cameron on TV’s number one show. Then again, I’m probably still feeling some glow from watching their dads deal with effemiphobia in last week’s episode.

The Talk (CBS) Check local listings
Julie Andrews is visiting today, I’m guessing she’ll be discussing her Very Fairy Princess children’s books — which I never heard about until I searched on what’s up new with Andrews.

Glee (Fox) 8:00 PM ET
The latest tribute episode has a dual purpose. Not only is this Glee‘s tribute to late icon Whitney Houston, this is the episode where we begin to say goodbye to the senior class as graduation day gets one episode closer. That sounds like you should have some tissues handy.

Cougar Town (ABC) 8:30 PM ET
As the wedding nears, the next reason for Jules and Greyson to fight comes when they consider combining their finances.

New Girl (Fox) 9:00 PM ET
I have a feeling Jess is going to feel the age gap between her and Russell again as she feels threatened by the intense emotions between Russel and his ex-wife (yes, that does mean Jeanne Tripplehorn is back). Oh Jess, some day you’ll realize the guy likes you because you’re so different form their ex.

L.A. Complex (CW) 9:00 PM ET
The CW’s newest drama is a Canadian import from the people who gave us Degrassi that follows young people in Los Angeles struggling to make the rent without giving up their dreams. That includes Tariq, who is trying to make it in hip hop and may earn a following among AfterElton readers. There’s also Degrassi‘s Cassie Steele and Firefly alum Jewel Staite. I’m pretty excited about this one, as it looks like it could be the show that the Melrose Place reboot should have been.

The Voice (NBC) 9:00 PM ET
Okay. I’ve decided that I LOVE the instant eliminations, which have cut a few performers who were starting to look weak but probably would have survived thanks to… er, other qualities. It’s a solid way to shake up a show, one that keeps the emphasis on artistry over mass appeal.

Best Ink (Oxygen) 10:00 PM ET
The artists have to show their skill at creating portraits, one of the most challenging kinds of tattoos one can attempt, since the slightest mistake can destroy the likeness. I’m sure somebody will turn that pressure into drama, but just to raise the stakes there’s also a twist to the opening challenge:

Savage U (MTV) 11:00 PM ET
Dan‘s next stop is Alabama’s Auburn University, where the students he meets will include a woman who can’t find a man aggressive enough to handle her energy.

Watch What Happens Live (Bravo) 11:00 PM ET
It’s a Real Housewives of Orange County night for Andy as he chats with Vicki Gunvalson and Lauri Peterson.

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS) 12:35 AM ET
Carson Kressley is returning for a chat with Craig tonight.

What will you be watching tonight? Please share in the comments!
