IFC is committing to making fun of urban lifestyles, ordering two seasons of Portlandia, which managed to find a way to get even better in its third season.
Justin Bruening will be making a return appearance on Switched at Birth according to The Hollywood Reporter. He’ll appear in one episode in July. Meanwhile, CSI-fave Larry Sullivan is also set to appear in an episode.
Soap vet Roger Howarth has signed up for a multi-episode arc on the upcoming season of Californication.
Not only did the return of Pretty Little Liars show a slight uptick in viewers, it ranked as the most tweeted season premiere with over 1.3 million tweets discussing the hit show
The Wendy Williams Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Wendy‘s got a Hot Talk segment today with Clinton Kelly, Megan Alexander and Soledad O’Brien.
Days of Our Lives (NBC) Check local listings
“Gabi makes new living arrangements” which I think means that Sonny tells her about the apartment set-up he thought of while watching a Friends marathon. We’ll be following this one with a liveblog so be sure to join us starting at 1PM Eastern!
Burn Notice (USA) 9:00 PM ET
I’d like to see a few episodes about how the team functions without Michael around, but it’s the 100th episode and that practically requires getting everyone back together. I’ve never really seen Michael and Sam as shippable, but their reunion might change things.
Chopped (Food Network) 9:00 PM ET
After dealing with mache in the appetizer round and squid in the entree, the cheftestants face a “hard to pronounce” ingredient in the dessert basket, which sounds like a great puzzle. Piloncillo? Pfeffernusse? Nocciole?
The Graham Norton Show (BBC America) 9:00 PM ET
It’s a double-feature of Graham since he took last week off to make room for zombies people with partial death syndrome. For the first hour, Graham’s talking with Jennifer Lopez, David Mitchell and cricketer-turned-boxer Freddie Flintoff. The second hour sees Dan Stephens, Hayden Panettiere, Micky Flanigan sit on the couch with a performance by Robin Thicke.
Sullivan & Son (TBS) 10:00 PM ET
I wanted to like Sullivan & Son when it debuted last year. Not only is star Steve Bryne a funny comedian, his story as a biracial man is one we don’t explore often enough in pop culture… as the reaction to certain cereal ads will attest. Plus, the cast included the great Christine Ebersole, who never got the kind of screen time her talent calls for (never, at least, in the episodes I’ve seen). The second season premiere is called “Pilot, One More Time” which I hope is a sign this show realizes it could do a better job of fulfilling its potential.
Showville (AMC) 10:00 PM ET
The talent search heads to Athens, Ohio where we hope Alec and Lisette find a band who wishes they were from the Georgia town with the same name.
Graceland (USA) 10:00 PM ET
Briggs and Mike attempt to bait two gangs against each other. That can be done with the right song and dance number, right?
Tabatha Takes Over (Bravo) 10:00 PM ET
In theory, a photography studio/hair salon sounds like a good idea. After all, people will want their hair styled nicely before getting some professional pictures taken. In this case, however, they need Tabitha‘s help, so clearly there’s something wrong.
Hannibal (NBC) 10:00 PM ET
The guest bill for tonight’s episode has a twofer. For the Fullerverse fans, Ellen Muth returns as yet another character named Georgia in a Bryan Fuller drama. Meanwhile, the regular geeks can enjoy the return of Gillian Anderson, who I hope will just glare at Hannibal until he gets treatment for Will.
Chelsea Lately (E!) 11:00 PM ET
Ross‘ week as guest-host concludes with Melissa Joan Hart.
NTSF: SD: SUV (Adult Swim) Midnight ET
There was something about the second season of Adult Swim’s parody of crime procedural that lost me. Maybe it got too weird, maybe it got too far from the mocking TV crime procedurals. With luck, the third season will be a return to form.
