Dexter producer John Goldwyn talked to Vulture about the series’ finale (which was generally hated). Goldwyn revealed that Showtime wanted to made sure that Dexter wouldn’t die when the series ended, which helps explain how that ending happened.
The faboo Jeri Ryan will be appearing in Syfy’s upcoming drama Helix for a multi-episode arc.
At the very least, look for a second source before reporting something like that.
Did Nasim Pedrad wear brownface when impersonating Aziz Ansari on this week’s Saturday Night Live? This is why the SNL cast needs more diversity. The pop culture landscape is getting more diverse and, whether the SNL‘s makeup department darkened Pedrad’s complexion or not (I think it could just be the lighting), the lack of diversity in the SNL cast makes it awkward when it comes to impersonating celebrities who aren’t white.
Jeffrey Tambor is set to appear on Raising Hope. TV Guide says he’ll be playing Maw Maw‘s estranged lover.
Vulture reports that Jenna Elfman will be appearing on The Mindy Project as a love interest for Danny, and I think I might take a break from watching The Mindy Project.
In a PaleyFest panel, Elementary star Jonny Lee Miller repeated that Sherlock and Joan won’t lead to a will-they-or-won’t-they, “If there’s one thing that has to be faithful, it’s the Holmes/Watson relationship, it has to be sacred almost, really. I think you can play with certain things but if you take the anchor away from the entire thing, then you’re drifting, and the show is something else.”
Lifetime’s Witches of East End had an okay debut ratings-wise. The debut did a little below Devious Maids‘ disappointing debut, but Devious Maids was able to draw additional viewers as the first season went along.
Tavis Smiley (PBS) Check local listings
Jessica Lange is on Tavis‘ guest list tonight. I expect some discussion of American Horror Story.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC) 8:00 PM ET
It’s the ABC drama’s first clash with Marvel comics continuity as the agency has to deal with the kidnapping of scientist Dr. Franklin Hall or this guy (or maybe some other scientist named Franklin Hall. It’s a common name, right?).
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Fox) 8:30 PM ET
Clearly, what Fox’s Tuesday night line-up needs is more stars from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, so tonight Jake starts hitting on a medical examiner (played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis a.k.a. “The Waitress“) who turns out to be a handful, as many of Ellis’ characters turn out to be.
Face Off (Syfy) 9:00 PM ET
We’re down to the final seven artists, so it’s probably a good time for a challenge involving the seven deadly sins. Too bad, I figure there’s zero chance the lust make-up won’t be designed for the straight male gaze.
New Girl (Fox) 9:00 PM ET
While Schmidt plots his revenge, Winston‘s busy trying to plan a night of “carnal glory” for Ferguson the cat on the eve of his neutering. Maybe this will get his roommates to notice that Winston needs to get out of the house and meet some people.
Supernatural (CW) 9:00 PM ET
The Winchesters are finally back and now with angels and demons stuck on earth, how will Castiel deal with being a human with human feelings? First, however, they’ll all need to deal with a multitude of angry angels, including Ezekiel (Tahmoh Penikett).
The Mindy Project (Fox) 9:30 PM ET
Mindy lets herself be taken in by Morgan‘s claim that everyone (everyone?) he sleeps with has found their true love the next day. However, when Mindy goes from wanting to test the legend to backing out, Morgan ends up suing for sexual harassment. Somehow, amid all that, Glenn Howerton shows up to finish testing the theory that Fox needs more Always Sunny stars.
Chelsea Lately (E!) 11:00 PM ET
Ross Mathews is on tonight’s panel while Christina Applegate chats with Chelsea.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central) 11:00 PM ET
For a comedy show, Jon ends up interviewing some amazing guests. Tonight that includes Malala Yousafzai.
Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC) 11:35 PM ET
Elton John is on tonight’s show.
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS) 12:35 AM ET
Guillermo Diaz is visiting Craig tonight to remind us that he is a fairly happy man, unlike poor Huck.
What will you be watching tonight? Please share in the comments!
