Yesterday was the day when rumors became official announcements. First, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving The View for a job as co-host on Fox & Friends. She’ll be replacing Gretchen Carlson, who will move to hosting her own daytime show. Your first sign this will be a gift for comedians comes from the press release, which calls Hasselbeck “warm and engaging”.

Sam HeughanSam Heughan looking literally princely for a Hallmark movie

Meanwhile, Starz announced that Sam Heughan will star in Outlander. Also, Meredith Vieira‘s entering the talk show arena in 2014. Jenna Elfman has joined the cast of Growing Up Fisher, taking over the role played by Parker Posey in the pilot.

In talking with TVLine, Happy Endings producer Jonathan Groff says he hopes the show’s easygoing diversity is part of its legacy, ” I really liked the comfort and matter-of-factness with which Max’s sexual orientation was [handled]. I thought he was an interesting character that I hadn’t seen before. I loved the ease with which his sexuality was just part of the basic facts of the group. I also really liked the way that race was handled easily in the group. I’m proud of that.”

Adam Pally and James Wolk in Happy EndingsWe won’t forget Max easily. Then again, we’ve been drinking more since Happy Endings was cancelled.

Sarah Palin tries to position her family’s appearances on reality TV as “infiltrating and influencing pop culture” instead of just chasing cameras like some Kardashian wannabes. Much like with Fox News’ attempt to create a conservative Daily Show, if you’re just there to counter the boogeyman of the “liberal media” instead of having some kind of story to tell, it makes for terrible television.

Fox is looking to adapt League of Extraordinary Gentlemen into a series. The comic, which was previously adapted into a disaster of a movie, imagines a team-up of Victorian-era literary heroes. There’s a good reason to feel wary about this project. The premise sounds like fanfic but the comic matched the original novels’ tone. At the very least, creating a pilot that will make comic fans and focus groups happy is going to be a challenge.

Wayne Brady will appear on a recurring basis in the final season of How I Met Your Mother as Barney‘s gay brother James.

Wayne Brady and Neil Patrick Harris from How I Met Your MotherBarney just found out the final season will take place over a weekend.

It turns out that HBO’s vision for Game of Thrones‘ iron throne is underwhelming compared to how it should look.

Guillermo del Toro‘s vampire drama plot for FX, The Strain has added Sean Astin to its cast. I hope FX finds a way to air it on the same night as Wilfred

NBC gets some summer nostalgia going with this dramedy that takes inspiration from 80s teen comedies like Meatballs. On one hand, it has Rachel Griffiths as the camp director of a financially struggling camp. On the other hand, did they not have a better joke than that guy getting a fish hook catch his nose?

The Exes, "Trading Places"

The Exes (TV Land) 10:30 PM ET
I’d like to tell you about tonight’s Clueless reunion by rewriting the lyrics to the TV show’s theme song but it’s hard to mess with flawless lines like, “She is literally the Polaroid of perfection.” Just hum the tune to yourself as Stacy Dash appears as a woman hot enough to make Phil (Donald Adeosun Faison) go along with new program of abstinence.

The Soul Man (TV Land) 11:00 PM ET
Niecy Nash‘s Reno 911! former castmate Cedric Yarbrough (along with Yvette Nicole Brown) returns to The Soul Man as Boyce and Lolli‘s annoying friends, who are planning to move to St. Louis. Even worse, they’ve adopted a son, threatening to spread their terribleness to another generation.
