When we meet openly gay pop singer-songwriters like Eric Himan or Steve Grand, it’s easy to wonder if a gay pop renaissance is upon us.

Well, let’s welcome another pop prince to the stage: Here’s Daniel Sobrino, a dapper, flip-haired gent originally from Mexico City whose new single “The Power of Us” has garnered 25,000 YouTube views in two days.

As EQ Music Blog notes, Sobrino’s influences stem ”from Sia, through Emeli Sande to Ryan Tedder,” and he channels most of that into fresh, empowered music. “The Power of Us” shows us the young performer looking and sounding great; physically, he’s sort of like if American Idol‘s Devin Velez had a little bit more gravitas and wisdom behind his Tintin coif. Sonically, he’s pretty sublime.

Bonus: Check out his cover of Adele‘s “Hometown Glory” too.
