This is something really special. Talented out artist Ryan Amador teamed up with co-vocalist Jo Lampert (of the band Avan Lava) in 2012 for his LGBTQ anthem “Define Me”. Today The Backlot readers get an exclusive first look at the new music video directed by Tom Gustafson (Were The World Mine). Gorgeous on every level!
The song DEFINE ME was first released on Ryan Amador’s bandcamp in conjunction with Ryan’s live performance at the True Colors LGBT Youth Conference on March 22nd. (You can purchase the MP3 here – name your own purchase price and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to organizations actively involved with the LGBT equality campaign.)
Ryan Amador is a prolific, Los Angeles born, Brooklyn based singer/songwriter who began writing a melody a day at age eight, finishing two hundred songs by the time he was fourteen. He has previously released two EPs with his first full-length album on the way. As a student at New York University, Ryan began exploring issues of sexuality in his music and DEFINE ME was written as a response to the differing and complex opinions he encountered on the subject. Ryan made a live recording of DEFINE ME during an IT GETS BETTER PROJECT performance in 2010 and a studio recording with soulful vocalist Jo Lampert of trending band, Avan Lava, in 2012. You can find out more about Ryan at his website ryanamador.
